ClosetKind Privacy Policy

ClosetKind is a wardrobe and outfit app made by byAlif (sole developer: Saroar Khandoker, Portugal). Your account and your garment photos live in a private ClosetKind account, hosted in the EU — visible only to you, never public, and never sold or shared.

Your account

To use ClosetKind you create an account with your email address and a 6-digit code we send you — no password, and no sign-in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or any other third party. Your account is powered by NeuAuth, byAlif's own authentication service.

Your garment photos

When you add a piece of clothing, its photo is uploaded to byAlif-controlled storage on DigitalOcean Spaces in the EU (Amsterdam). Before we store it, our server strips all metadata — EXIF data, GPS location, and timestamps — and re-encodes the image. Your photos are private: there is no public URL for them. The app displays a photo through a link we generate that expires after 60 seconds, so a copied link stops working almost immediately. We store your photos to provide the app's core function — building your outfits from your closet — and we don't look through them, use them for anything else, or share them with anyone.

What we store to run your account

Your garment photos, your account email address, and a unique account ID — that's everything tied to your identity. We separately collect anonymous usage analytics (see "What we collect" below), which is never linked to your account, email, or photos. Everything else — outfit combinations, wear history, planner entries, style preferences, and your body avatar — stays on your device and never reaches our servers at all.

What stays on your device

Your outfit combinations, wear history, planner entries, and style preferences (age band, gender, style words, skin tone, undertone, favourite colours) are stored locally on your iPhone and are never uploaded. The body avatar feature works the same way: the camera frames used to build your avatar are analyzed only on your iPhone and never leave it, and the finished avatar stays in the app's private on-device storage, excluded from iCloud and device backups.

Deleting your photos and your account

You can delete any garment photo individually at any time, which removes it from our storage as part of that action. If you delete your account, we remove your remaining photos from storage within 72 hours. Deleting the app by itself does not delete your account or your uploaded photos — delete your account first in Settings if you want everything gone from our servers too.

What we collect

We collect anonymous usage analytics through our own self-hosted analytics service (no third-party ad networks, no data brokers): app events such as "outfit viewed" or "item added", plus device model, OS version, app version, locale, and a random install identifier stored in your device keychain. Analytics never include your photos, garment names, messages, preferences, or location. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple; we receive only anonymized subscription status from Apple's systems.

What we don't do

We do not run face recognition, we do not look through your photos for anything beyond providing the app, we do not sell or share personal data, we do not use advertising trackers, and we do not access your contacts. Calendar and location access are optional, requested only when you turn them on: calendar events are read on-device to match outfits to your plans and are never logged or transmitted; location is an approximate, one-time reading used only to fetch your local weather from Apple's WeatherKit, and is not stored or sent to our servers.

Subscriptions

ClosetKind Plus is billed through your Apple account. Apple's privacy policy governs payment data; we never see your payment details.

Your choices

Camera and photo-library access are optional and requested only when you add clothing. You can delete individual photos or your whole account at any time in Settings — see "Deleting your photos and your account" above for what that removes and how fast.

Changes and contact
